The Driving Change project is a road safety collaboration involving the Northern Ireland’s DHSSPS and the Department of Finance and Personnel, as well as the Republic of Ireland’s Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Department of Finance.
CAWT supports the project by way of advice and guidance on cross border project management. Funded by the European Union’s INTERREG IVA programme, the project has two main parts. Firstly, the fire services will be involved in training around response to road traffic collisions in border areas with opportunities for job-shadowing and cross-border planning. The second part of the project is focused on helping young drivers and their peers to understand their driving behaviours and the potential consequences with an emphasis on young male drivers and learners and their families.
